Jurisprudential Maxims (Qawa'ed Fiqhiyya)

The science of Islamic jurisprudence is a vast discipline which provides legal and situational rulings for every facet of human life. Memorizing the rulings for every particular situation can be a daunting task by any measure. With this in mind, scholars have painstakingly derived several “Jurisprudential Maxims” from the Qur'an and the Prophetic legacy known as the “Sunna” to mitigate the burden. These maxims serve as theoretical guidelines which help us ascertain our legal duty in particular situations. An example of the maxims that will be discussed is the Maxim of Purity, the Maxim of No Harm, and the Maxim of Averting Hardship. This class is instructed by Sheikh Azhar Nasser. This is an online class..
