This course continues the chronological study of Imam Ali ibn Abi Talib’s life in the early Madinan period. Building on the migration, the Battle of Badr, and his marriage to Lady Fatima al Zahra, we will examine Imam Ali’s central role in the formation of the Muslim community. Emphasis will be placed on primary sources, variant reports, and the theological and socio political significance of key events. By the end of the course, students will gain both a detailed historical understanding and a critical framework for situating Imam Ali’s biography within the broader context of Prophetic history.
The course is instructed by Sayed Ahmed Qazwini. It meets on Tuesdays at 8 pm EST and is also available live on zoom and to view on demand.
