This course examines the theme of walāyah in the religion of Islam.
The theme of walāyah is central to Islamic weltanschauung (world-view) and has developed in various ways throughout the Islamic milieu. This course aims at exploring this development and manifestation within different modes of thought. This includes its usage within Quranic semantic fields and its development within the schools of theology, jurisprudence and mysticism. This course is instructed by Shaykh Abdulrahman Cherri.

Shaykh Abdulrahman Cherri
Shaykh Abdulrahman Cherri has a bachelor's degree in liberal arts with a focus on economics from the University of Michigan. He traveled to Qom and began studying in the Hawza since 2015, and his Hawza studies are still continuing. He is also a PhD candidate at the University of Münster in Germany in the department of Islamic Theology.
