This course examines the biography and life of Prophet Mohammad (s) in Mecca up until the night of the Hijra (Migration).

This course sheds light on the biography of the last messenger of God, the holy Prophet Mohammad (s). Does the Shia school of thought have any sources on the Seera of the Prophet (s)? A critique of the common books of Seera will be presented, along with a detailed analysis of various events, such as the Prophet’s birth and childhood, the status of his parents and grandfathers, marriage to Lady Khadija, revelation, inviting people to Islam, the ascension (Me’raj), the Valley of Abu Taleb, the migration to Abyssinia, the persecution of Muslims, the Prophet’s marriage to Aisha, the night of the Hijra and Imam Ali’a sacrifice that night, and other important events in Mecca. The instructor draws from a number of Seera (biography) books in this course. A total of 21 lessons were presented in the year 2017-2018. This course is instructed by Sayed Mohammad Baqer al-Qazwini.

Sayed Mohammad Baqer studied ten years at the Seminary of Qom, and he completed a BA in Sociology from the University of Michigan - Ann Arbor. He is currently based at the Islamic Institute of America, based in Dearborn Heights, Michigan.
